As 2009 draws to a close, we can take a moment to look back and reflect on the opportunities, changes and challenges we have all encountered in the past year. The worst of the recession seems to be behind us and the indicators of rebuilding and renewed growth are inspiring confidence. Though it has been a challenging year on the economic front, 2009 also presented some great opportunities for technological advancements. DOCSIS 3.0 finally came out of its shell in 2009. Though full implementation with IPV6 is still to come, the technology that has provided a number of MSOs with the faster bandwidth that this highly competitive industry requires. This is just ACT 1 so you can expect much more as we enter the new decade. We have also seen an increase in deployments using SIP and PacketCable this year, indicating that incumbent carriers better address the demand of the subscriber base. Increasing competition between traditional telco and cable has also shone a spotlight on the need for highly integrated OSS service provisioning and activation platforms to minimize the time to deploy new services and service bundling.
